DOTD advises of roadways with high water in Bossier Parish following heavy rainfall

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that various roadways in Bossier Parish are experiencing high water following recent heavy rainfall.

The following locations are marked with ‘high water’ warning signs, and DOTD urges drivers to proceed with extreme caution.

LA 162 at Crouch Road
LA 3 at Boggs Road
LA 529 at Cotton Valley Road
LA 2 in Plain Dealing
LA 160 at Ward Line Road
LA 537 just off LA 3

Motorists should watch for flooded roadways and avoid driving into standing or running water. Drivers should also follow these tips when driving during and after a rainfall event:

• Slow down, be attentive, and avoid driving distracted.
• Allow for extra driving time and additional room between vehicles.
• Reduce speed when visibility is low or road surfaces are wet.
• Do not use your cruise control when visibility is low or road surfaces are wet.
• Be alert for DOTD, other state, and local responders’ equipment and workers performing work on the bridges and roadways.

Motorists may call 511 or visit www.511la.org for additional information. Out-of-state travelers may call 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511). Motorists may also monitor the LA DOTD website at www.dotd.la.gov, by selecting MYDOTD, or by visiting the DOTD Facebook and Twitter pages.
