UPDATE: This closure has been extended for completion in May 2019. The section of Nation Road will be closed until April 15, 2019, weather permitting. Thank you for your patience.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Wednesday, May 23, construction will begin on a $1.1 million project on the Coulee Duralde Bridge located north of I-10 on the north-south segment of Nation Road, within the city limits of Rayne in Acadia Parish.

The work is estimated to take place daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.

This section of Nation Road will be closed for approximately 8 months beginning May 24 until January 15, 2019. The road closure is needed to remove the existing bridge and construct a new girder span bridge.

The road will be open to local residents of the area.

During the road closure, Nation Road, Grand Prairie Highway (LA 98), Coin Road, and Church Point Highway (LA 35) shall be used as a detour route.

The project will include removing the existing bridge, installation of a quad beam girder span bridge, base reconstruction, asphalt concrete overlay, and installation of drainage structures and related work.

The project is estimated for completion in February 2019.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

DOTD apologizes for any inconvenience this necessary work may cause.
