The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Thursday, May 24, construction will begin on a $1.1 million project on LA 1096 between LA 95 (Austria Road) to South Riceland Road near the Town of Duson, in Lafayette Parish.

The work is estimated to take place daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.

This section of LA 1096 will be closed to through traffic for approximately 2 weeks beginning May 24 through June 7. The road closure is needed to install cross drainage structures.

The road will be open to local businesses and residents residing in the area.

During the road closure, Mire Highway (LA 95), Soldier Road (LA 1096) and North Riceland Road (LA 1096) shall be used as a detour route.

The project will include milling asphalt pavement, base reconstruction, asphalt concrete overlay, and installation of drainage structures and related work.

The project is estimated for completion in August 2018.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

DOTD apologizes for any inconvenience this necessary work may cause.
