Construction is ongoing for State Project H.002370, LA 42 Widening. The project consists of grading, drainage structures, subgrade treatment, drilled shaft foundations, traffic signalization, landscaping, asphalt concrete pavement, portland cement concrete pavement, and related work in Ascension Parish.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that there will be a full and single lane closure along LA 42 on Saturday, March 24th, weather permitting.
  • The single lane closure will take place at Muddy Creek Bridge. Work in this area consists laying 11’ x11’ box culverts at Muddy Creek. A flagging operation will take place at this location. Oversized loads will be restricted to 11' widths.
  • The full lane closure (eastbound and westbound directions) with detour will take place along LA 42 at Muddy Creek Road. Work at this location consists of installation of subsurface drainage crossing LA 42 and is expected to last approximately one day, weather permitting. Detours will be in place for motorist to access LA 42 via LA 44 to LA 933. No permit or oversized loads along with emergency vehicles will be able to pass.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
