Baton Rouge, LA – Today, the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that from the evening of Monday, March 19, through Friday, March 23, contractors will be intermittently closing Essen Lane southbound at several intersections between Essen Park Avenue and Perkins Road. The closures are necessary for crews to install signal poles and mast arms, and each closure is expected to last approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Motorists can expect these closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night.

The Essen Lane widening project will widen both the east and west sides of the roadway in an effort to add a third northbound travel lane. When all construction is complete, which is anticipated to be by spring 2018, Essen Lane will consist of three northbound and three southbound travel lanes, plus a center turn lane between the I-10 interchange and Perkins Road.
