The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Thursday, February 1, construction will begin on a $3.07 million project to construct a roundabout at the intersection of LA 31 and LA 92-1, in St. Martin Parish.

The work is estimated to take place daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.

There will be intermittent lane closures throughout the project with delays of 5-10 minutes. The road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone.

LA 182, LA 96, and LA 347 may be used as alternate routes.

Roundabouts are one-way, circular intersections designed to improve safety and efficiency for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians. Roundabouts reduce crashes by decreasing stop-and-go traffic.

The project is estimated for completion in October, 2018.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
