Dept. of Transportation and Development Announces Bid Results for Statewide Projects

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that 19 projects around the state were let on January 10, 2018, most notably the addition of a Terrace Avenue exit from I-110 southbound in Baton Rouge. Sixteen contractors presented bids totaling $31.6 million.

“This letting allows DOTD to continue providing reliable and safe infrastructure for not only the people of Louisiana, but also the many visitors who spend time here,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. “We are pleased to finally be moving forward with the Terrace Avenue exit in Baton Rouge, which will help mitigate traffic trying to cross multiple lanes from I-110 southbound to get to the Washington Street exit. This interchange improvement will also play a larger role in the reconstruction and expansion of I-10 through the Capitol Region.”

The projects and their apparent low bids are as follows:

Bridge Replacement and Repair:
  • Interchange modification along I-110 at Terrace Avenue in East Baton Rouge Parish: $10,289,230.50
  • Bridge repair on I-20, LA 175, and US 371 in Bienville, Desoto, and Webster parishes: $423,794.65
  • Galliano Bridge electrical repairs in Lafourche Parish: $372,000.00
  • Girder repair of Nutland Road at I-20 in Ouachita Parish: $170,656.05
  • Big Creek Relief Bridge repair along LA 1054 in Tangipahoa Parish: $141,654.60

Pavement/ Overlay:
  • Patching, drainage, and overlay on LA 700 in Lafayette Parish: $949,217.72
  • Paving, patching, and drainage on LA 39 in St. Bernard Parish: $2,022,163.96
  • Patching, drainage, and overlay on LA 101 in Calcasieu and Jefferson Davis parishes: $2,081,227.00
  • Overlay on LA 184 at LA 468 roundabout in Vernon Parish: $2,228,575.76
  • Patching and overlay on US 84 in Catahoula and LaSalle parishes: $1,983,292.75
  • Paving and patching on I-110 in East Baton Rouge Parish: $1,035,494.08

Congestion Mitigation and Safety:
  • Cable barriers along I-10 in Calcasieu and Jefferson Davis parishes: $7,129,861.25
  • Turn lane improvements on US 61 at LA 621 in Ascension Parish: $596,610.64
  • Desiard Street striping in Ouachita Parish: $153,115.65
  • Striping and pavement markers on I-49 in Caddo Parish: $164,885.00
  • Striping and pavement markers on LA 1 in Lafourche Parish: $199,205.00

Other:

  • Sidewalks along LA 77 in Iberville Parish: $328,519.97
  • Tammany Trace – Camp Salman Connector along US 190 in St. Tammany Parish: $539,293.63
  • Riverbend Elementary Sidewalks in Ouachita Parish: $763,162.99

Construction projects are prioritized by road/bridge condition, urgency of improvements, type/volume of traffic, crash records, unforeseeable emergencies that caused damage, and several other factors.
