NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the eastbound left and center lanes of the Interstate 10 Highrise Bridge will remain closed following a fire caused by burning tires under the bridge. The eastbound right lane is the only travel lane open to vehicular traffic until completion of temporary emergency repairs.

The westbound lanes were reopened upon initial inspection on Wednesday night. DOTD personnel arrived at the bridge following morning rush hour today to inspect the structure and determine the extent of damages. The inspection revealed significant damage to two girders under the bridge. Once a contract is secured, the emergency repairs are estimated for completion by early next week. An update will be provided once a final determination can be made based on the process and time it takes to complete repairs.
