ORLEANS PARISH - Emergencyclosure at I-10 Highrise closed due to fire

NEW ORLEANS,La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an emergency closure of Interstate 10 at the Highrise Bridge due to a fire caused by burning tires in the area. Eastbound traffic is currently traveling in the center lane only; westbound traffic was reopened last night, after initial inspection of the structure. Currently, there is no time frame for reopening the left and right eastbound lanes.

DOTD personnel is currently inspecting the Highrise to determine the extent of the damage. The inspection is estimated for completion this afternoon.
