The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that beginning Thursday, November 16, Lajaunie Road on the east side of the Vermilion River Bridge, between East Pont Des Mouton Road and Woodpecker Drive, will be closed to thru traffic to allow crews to conduct bridge construction.

This closure is estimated to take place for approximately three months. The detour for this closure includes Louisiana Avenue to East Pont Des Mouton Road.

Additionally, DOTD announces that the Vermilion River boat launch on Shadow Bluff Road will remain closed through the duration of the Vermilion River Bridge construction.

DOTD apologizes for any inconvenience to the traveling public and encourages motorists to lookout for crews and their equipment.

The $124.7 million I-10 widening project will involve widening a 7.11-mile section from I-49 to Breaux Bridge (State Project Number H.003003). The project will include pavement replacement within the existing lanes and the construction of one additional lane in each direction along I-10 from I-49 to La 328 (Breaux Bridge).

The project began in May 2017 and is estimated for completion in fall 2019.
