The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Monday, August 21 until Sunday, August 27, the westbound left lane of I-10, from the Vermilion Bridge to the Louisiana Avenue Bridge., will be closed for hydro demolition.
The closure is estimated to take place nightly from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.
Additionally, on Saturday, August 19 until Tuesday, August 22 the north and southbound lanes of Louisiana Avenue will be closed under the I-10 overpass for hydro demolition over Louisiana Avenue.
The closure is estimated to take place nightly from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.
The detour route for northbound and southbound traffic on Louisiana Avenue is as follows:
Northbound: Take I-10 eastbound to LA 328, then back to I-10 westbound to continue north on Louisiana Avenue.
Southbound: Take I-10 westbound to I-49, then back to I-10 eastbound to Louisiana Avenue to continue south.
DOTD apologizes for any inconvenience to the traveling public and encourages motorists to lookout for crews and their equipment.
The $124.7 million I-10 widening project will involve widening a 7.11-mile section from I-49 to Breaux Bridge. The project will include pavement replacement within the existing lanes and the construction of one additional lane in each direction along I-10 from I-49 to LA 328 (Breaux Bridge).
The project began in May 2017 and is estimated for completion in fall 2019.
