LA 44 (ST. JAMES PARISH) – A road closure will take place on LA 44 on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00AM on Friday, September 1, 2017. No thru traffic will be allowed to pass during this road closure.
The closure will be from a point 0.5 miles east of LA 3213 to a point 2.2 miles west of LA 54
The closure is necessary for Noranda Alumina to create a safety zone around a sulfuric acid pipeline that crosses LA 44.
Alternates routes are available. Motorists should detour LA 44 to LA 3213 then US 61 to LA 54 then LA 44 or LA 44 to LA 54 then LA 61 to LA 3213.
