Why: April 3-7 is Work Zone Awareness Week in Louisiana and nationwide. This year’s theme is “Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.” In observance of this week, DOTD will assemble a cone memorial on the lawn of the RTMC building in remembrance of the 700 fatalities nationwide in work zones in 2015 – including five deaths in Louisiana. Speakers at the news conference will discuss the importance of driving safely through work zones.
