JEFFERSON PARISH, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is set to begin a $694,000 project to overlay Hickory Avenue from 9th Street to Dock Street in Harahan, with work starting on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017. The project is designed to improve and preserve the existing roadway.

The project will resurface just over a mile of the two-lane roadway. Lane closures are planned, but will not be allowed between the hours of 7:00 and 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. Flagging operations will assist with traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and weekends-if needed. The contractor is Barriere Construction Co., LLC and work is estimated for completion by early April 2017.

All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking or biking near an active work zone.
