UPDATE (04/21/2017): Walnut Street will be closed at Arkansas Ave. from Tuesday, April 25 thru Thursday, April 27. Walnut Street will then be closed at Bres Ave. from Friday, April 28 thru Tuesday, May 2. The purpose of the closure is for drainage repairs. Detour route will be N 2nd Street.

(3/31/2017): Walnut Street will be closed from Olive Street to Washington Street on Wednesday, April 5. This closure is expected to last until Wednesday, April 12. There will be a detour established along N 2nd Street.

(3/20/2017): Walnut Street is now reopen to traffic, but will maintain the various lane closures in the northbound and southbound directions.

(3/8/2017): Walnut Street will be closed from Breard Street to Olive Street on Monday, March 13. This closure will last until Friday, March 17. There will be a detour established along N 2nd Street.

(2/27/2017): Walnut Street is now reopen to traffic, but will maintain the various lane closures in the northbound and southbound directions.

(2/23/2017): There is an emergency road closure on Walnut Street, from Louisville Avenue to Arkansas Avenue. Walnut Street will remain open to traffic south at the intersection of Arkansas Avenue and north at the intersection of Louisville Avenue.

This closure will begin today on Thursday, February 23 at 10 AM through Friday, February 24 at 5 PM.

There will be various lane closures along Walnut Street in Monroe in both the northbound and southbound directions. These closures will be from the KCS Railroad Crossing to Hundson Lane and will begin on Monday, February 20.

Traffic will be maintained through the use of flaggers and pilot vehicles to assist with travel through this area during daylight working hours. All lanes will be open during non-working hours and overnight.

Anticipated completion is Friday, May 5.

The purpose of these various closures is to allow for scheduled construction improvement of the roadway.
