US 11 Bridge closed due to mechanical failure

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an emergency closure of the U.S. Highway 11 Bridge across Lake Pontchartrain due to mechanical failure. Motorists should use Interstate 10 as an alternate route.
DOTD maintenance crews are on site. The estimated timeframe for reopening the bridge is unknown.
