PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces nightly alternating lane closures on La. 23. Thursday, Jan. 26 though Monday, January 30, 2017, from 4:30 p.m. till 6:00 a.m. The contractor will be milling the roadway from Happy Jack to Port Sulphur.

The $1.7 million project began in Oct. 2016 and is replacing cross drainage and overlaying the travel lanes of the two-lane section of La. 23 between Happy Jack and Port Sulphur, nearly four-miles. Turn lanes are also being constructed at Civic Drive, Freeport Drive and the entrance to the Plaquemines Medical Center.

The estimated completion timeframe is spring 2017. Boh Bros Construction LLc is performing the work.

All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking or biking near an active work zone.
