ST. CHARLES PARISH, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces a full closure of westbound Interstate 10 on Saturday, Jan. 14, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., on Sunday, Jan. 15, as part of a $1.3 million project to upgrade emergency crossings for safer access for motorists in St. Charles and St. John the Baptist parishes.

The closure will allow the contractor, Diamond Electrical Co., Inc., to install a dynamic message sign truss (support brackets) at mile marker 211.4, near the I-10 and I-55 interchange. As an alternate route, traffic will be directed to I-310, on to U.S. 61, and on to U.S. 51 in LaPlace, La.

The estimated completion timeframe for the project in its entirety is March 2017.

All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking or biking near the active work zone.
