US 71/165, Rapides Parish, Change in Traffic Pattern
Opening of the new KCS Railroad Overpass; Pineville Side of the Red River

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) advises the public that on Monday, April 29, 2013, after 9:00a.m., there will be a change in the traffic pattern on the Pineville side of the Red River, on US 71/165, between the O. K. Allen Bridge and Pineville High School (Claiborne Street). This work is related to the ongoing construction for the four laning of US 71/165. The revised configuration will be in effect for approximately one (1) year, until the new southbound railroad overpass is completed.
Permit/Detour Section
Southbound Traffic on US 71/165: Motorist traveling in a southbound direction from Kingsville or the Veterans Administration Hospital will now be directed to use the new railroad overpass on US 71/165. Accordingly, there will now be two (2) way traffic on the new overpass.
Northbound Traffic on US 71/165: After you cross O.K. Allen Bridge into Pineville, the northbound lane of traffic will continue to drive on the new northbound lanes of US 71/165 and the new KCS Railroad overpass. However, motorist should be alert that we will now have two way traffic on these two lanes of US 71/165 and the new railroad overpass.
To access Buhlow Lake, Pineville Airport and the Red River Waterways Recreation Area and boat launching ramp, northbound and southbound motorist will continue to utilize the new intersection and crossover which is located across from the new Rainbow Drive.
Motorists should be advised that there will be delays while this change in traffic is being implemented and DOTD recommends that the public consider using alternate routes on Monday morning, April 29, 2013, to avoid any delays.
There are no additional restrictions related to the roadway width, length, weight or loads.
