NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an emergency closure of the Judge Seeber (Claiborne Avenue) Bridge, in both directions, due to a barrier malfunction.

Maintenance crews are currently enroute to inspect the bridge. The outage is expected to last a minimum of 2 hours. Local law enforcement has been alerted and will assist with traffic control.

The barrier serves at the last defense to stop vehicles from going off the structure into the water. DOTD will announce when the bridge can safely reopen to vehicular traffic.

The suggested alternate route is the La. 46/St. Claude Avenue Bridge.
