The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public of an update regarding US 84 closure of the LAS Railroad Overpass in Winnfield, Louisiana. This route will not be closed June 6, 2016 as planned, but instead will be closed effective June 8, 2016. It is the Departments intent to close the overpass near the intersection of US 167 and US 84 West, log mile 19.4 for an extended period (approximately 4 months). The purpose of this project is to demolish the existing bridge superstructure and reconstruct it, paint the existing substructure, and overlay the approaches with super pave asphaltic concrete pavement. The contractor will also perform clearing and grubbing, roadway striping, and other related work. Detour routes will be marked with the appropriate signage.
This project was awarded to the low bidder, James Construction Group; LLC in the amount of $1,297,819.56. The work associated with this project should take approximately 90 working days to complete.
Permit/Detour Section
The roadway will remain closed for the duration of the project.
The detour will be as follows:
East bound will detour South on LA 1228, then East on LA 34 to US 84.
West Bound will detour West on LA 34, then North on LA 1228 to US 84.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Monday June 6, 2016, at approximately 8:00 am, construction of will begin on US 84 in Winn Parish. This work will begin near the intersection of US 167 and US 84 west in Winnfield and proceed west over the LAS Railroad for a length of 0.099 miles where the project will end.
The intent of this project is to demolish the existing bridge superstructure and reconstruct it, paint the existing substructure, and overlay the approaches with superpave asphaltic concrete pavement. The contractor will also perform clearing and grubbing, roadway striping, and other related work. The contractor will NOT be required to maintain thru traffic. The public is advised to remain alert to construction and detour signs.
