The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that bridge number 370-01-0412-1; on LA 454 over Wiggins Bayou, IS NOW OFFICIALLY CLOSED.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that bridge number 370-01-0412-1 will be closed due to bridge issues with high water events. The bridge will be closed at approximately 5:00 PM on Friday, March 18, 2016 and will remain closed until the water recedes to the point to allow for the bridge to be inspected. This structure is on LA 454 over Wiggins Bayou and is located 4.12 miles southwest of the LA 454 and LA 107/115 intersection just south of Effie, LA.
Permit/Detour Section
The bridge will be closed to all traffic and there is no detour currently available.

During unfavorable weather conditions, motorists should drive using the following safety tips:
• Drive slowly and carefully.
• Avoid driving into standing or running water.
• Avoid driving while distracted.
• Avoid using cruise control when visibility is low or road surfaces are wet.
• Always allow for extra driving time.
• Reduce speeds when visibility is low.
• Make sure there is plenty of room between vehicles.
• Avoid using highway overpasses as tornado shelters.
