Paths to Progress to hold neighborhood informational meeting for upcoming Algiers road rehabilitation project

NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s Paths to Progress program will host a neighborhood informational meeting on Tuesday, December 1 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the William J. Fischer Accelerated Academy, Cafeteria, 1801 L B Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70114 to discuss upcoming repairs to the following street segments:

• L B Landry Avenue (Mardi Gras Boulevard - Jefferson Parish Line)
• Old Behrman Highway (Marr Avenue – LA 428/Behrman Place)

Construction for the $6.5 million project is anticipated to begin in January 2016 and reach completion by April 2016. Roadway repairs will include resurfacing, pavement patching, repairing curbs, installing ADA-compliant accessible ramps and permanent striping. The restriping of Old Behrman Highway is to include a dedicated bicycle lane from Marr Avenue to LA 428.

Business owners, elected officials and all interested residents are encouraged to attend the informational meeting to find out more about the schedule and construction events that will take place in their area.

Project personnel will be on hand to provide the latest information on Paths to Progress, details of the upcoming street repairs and a construction schedule. The meeting will commence with a brief presentation, followed by an opportunity to ask questions and view project maps and other materials.

Paths to Progress is a transportation improvement program to rehabilitate, restore and enhance more than 60 roadway segments in Orleans and Jefferson parishes. With a combined investment of over $90 million, Paths to Progress is a coordinated effort between the Federal Highway Administration, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, New Orleans Regional Planning Commission, City of New Orleans, Parish of Jefferson and City of Kenner.
