The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Saturday, September 19, U.S. 71/165 at the Curtis-Coleman Bridge over the Red River, between Alexandria and Pineville, will be closed to traffic due to the demolition of the main spans of the existing O. K. Allen Bridge. This closure is anticipated to take place between 7 a.m. and noon. Due to the possibility of traffic delays, motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route, such as US 167 (Pineville Expressway).

Also, before the demolition begins and for a period of 24 to 36 hours after its completion, the Red River will be closed to all navigation watercraft in the vicinity of the O. K. Allen Bridge to allow crews to remove demolition debris from the river bed. The river will be reopened once all debris is removed.

Permit/Detour section
Recommended detour via I-49 and US 167 (Purple Heart Memorial Bridge).

Safety Reminder
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and look out for work crews and their equipment.
