DOTD announces start of preservation project on La. 87 in Iberia Parish

IBERIA PARISH, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Monday, March 10, 2025, construction will begin on a $951,269.79 project on a 0.64-mile section of La. 87 from La. 3182 to 0.65 miles southeast of La. 3182.

SCOPE OF WORK
The project will include new drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching, asphalt concrete overlay, and related work.

WORK SCHEDULE
Work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

TRAVEL IMPACTS & DETOURS
Road Closures and alternating lane closures are expected.

Road Closures - During road closures, La. 87 will be open to local traffic only. A detour route will be posted that will utilize La. 671, La. 182, and La. 3182. Emergency vehicles will not have access through the entire area during road closures.

Lane Closures - During lane closures and when the road is not closed, the road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot wide maximum lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone. Emergency vehicles will have access to this area during lane closures but may encounter delays.

The project is estimated for completion by May 2025.
