DOTD announces upcoming closures on I-49 northbound and I-10 eastbound in Lafayette Parish for continued girder repairs

UPDATE: DOTD announces that I-49 northbound at the I-10 overpass is now OPEN to traffic.
I-10 in the eastbound direction, between the University Avenue Interchange and through the I-49 interchange, remains reduced to one lane until Sunday, February 16, at 5 a.m.
LAFAYETTE, La. – As work continues to repair the Interstate 10 eastbound overpass, DOTD announces the upcoming closures of Interstate 49 (Evangeline Thruway) northbound and the right lane of Interstate 10 eastbound in Lafayette Parish.
I-49 NORTHBOUND (Evangeline Thruway)
Beginning Friday, February 14, at 9:00 p.m. until Saturday, February 15, at 5:00 a.m., Interstate 49 northbound at its intersection with I-10 will be closed to all traffic, weather permitting.
Emergency vehicles will not have access to this section of I-49 northbound.
DETOUR
Motorist traveling on I-49 NB: Take Exit 1A (Baton Rouge), continue eastbound on I-10 to Exit 104 ( Louisiana Ave), turn left on Louisiana Avenue, then take I-10 Westbound to Exit 103B ( I-49/US 167 -Opelousas).
I-10 EASTBOUND
Beginning Friday, February 14, at 9:00 p.m. until Sunday, February 16, at 5:00 a.m., Interstate 10 eastbound, between the University Avenue Interchange and through the I-49 Interchange, will be reduced to one lane, weather permitting.
Emergency vehicles will have access to the inside lane of the area.
These closures are necessary for crews to pour the concrete bridge deck for the I-10 eastbound overpass.
RAMP CLOSURES
During this time, the following closures will remain in place.
- Interstate 10 eastbound overpass auxiliary lane (deceleration/acceleration lane)
- I-49 northbound exit ramp from I-10 (Exit 103B)
- Exit 1A to access I-10 eastbound
This project is estimated for completion in March 2025, weather permitting.
The emergency contractors for this project are Lafayette based Huval & Associates, Inc. (design) and C.E.C., Inc. (construction).
