DOTD thanks ArDOT for their support during winter weather operations
BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development and Secretary Joe Donahue would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the assistance and support provided by the Arkansas Department of Transportation during this winter weather event.
Personnel from ArDOT will provide critical supplemental support to the winter weather mission already being carried out by DOTD crews.
“Our DOTD crews and support staff have been working tirelessly to pre-treat bridges on major routes across the state,” said Sec. Donahue. “But welcoming ArDOT’s teams means that our mission can become that much more impactful as we navigate this winter storm. Similar to when Tennessee sent crews to help Louisiana after Hurricane Laura and we sent teams to assist Florida late last year in the wake of Hurricane Milton, this is another example of state DOTs working together in the best interest of citizens. I am extremely grateful to Governor Sanders and ArDOT Director Wiley for their support.”
Approximately 60 personnel from ArDOT, along with various salt brine tankers, snow plows, mechanic trucks, and support vehicles made their way south to Louisiana Monday to begin pre-treating additional roadways across the state.
The corridors being treated by Louisiana DOTD and our ArDOT partners include areas of I-10, I-49, US 190 and I-12, plus any others that may be deemed necessary as weather conditions dictate.
In emergency weather situations, collaboration between agencies across state lines can be crucial to a successful mission, and to the safety of residents. This cooperation ensures that resources are maximized, response times are minimized, and communities in all corners of Louisiana are supported.
This type of collaboration also allows for the sharing of specialized knowledge in handling weather emergencies, which can be invaluable to the continued development of response strategies and plans.
Once again, DOTD sends its sincere gratitude to ArDOT for their willingness to lend assistance during this winter storm.
