DOTD announces start of $3.3M project on La. 31 (Creswell Ln.) and La. 182 (S Union St.) in St. Landry Parish

ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Wednesday, January 8, 2025, construction will begin on a $3.3 million project that will include a 2.59-mile section of La. 31 from La. 182 to La. 742, as well as the adjacent section of La. 182 from La. 31 to E. Jefferson St.
The project will include grading, drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching, pavement widening, class II base course, roadway reinforcing mesh, asphalt concrete overlay, and related work.
Work is expected to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the portion of La. 31 that is east of I-49, weather permitting.
Nighttime work is expected to take place Sunday through Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. for the entire La. 182 section and the remaining portion of La. 31 that is west of I-49, weather permitting.
Intermittent lane closures will be required to perform the work, therefore, drivers should expect delays. The road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot maximum lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone.
Emergency vehicles will have access through this area but may encounter delays.
The project is estimated for completion in winter 2025/2026.
