RAMP CLOSURES: Old Minden Rd. interchange at I-20, Bossier Parish (I-20 rehab project)
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning Monday, December 16, 2024, the ramps at the LA 72 (Old Minden Road) interchange at I-20 in Bossier City are closed due to construction activities on the outside travel lanes of the interstate.
This work is related to Phase 3 of the ongoing I-20 major rehabilitation project, and is necessary to allow for the contractor to begin removal of the existing pavement on the outside travel lanes, which will prohibit access to and from the interstate via the Old Minden Road ramps.
The closure of the interchange is anticipated to last until April-May 2025, with construction progress heavily dependent upon weather conditions and other factors.
As a reminder, three of the four ramps at the LA 782-2 (Industrial Drive) interchange are currently also closed for reconstruction, and are expected to reopen in March 2025. The eastbound on-ramp is not impacted by this construction.
The other interchanges included in the project – Airline Drive, Barksdale Blvd., and Benton Road – will remain open at this time and provide access to I-20.
DOTD would also like to remind motorists that the I-20 rehabilitation zone in Bossier City from Hamilton Road to Industrial Drive remains prohibited to commercial motor vehicles such as 18-wheelers due to narrow lane widths. CMV drivers should utilize the primary detour of I-220.
Additionally, through travelers on I-20 are urged to utilize I-220 to avoid construction delays.
The I-20 project webpage provides a variety of resources and updates as work progresses. Click here to access that page.
Restrictions/Permits: All ramps at the Old Minden Road interchange are closed to all vehicles.
Alternate Route: I-20 can be accessed via Traffic Street, Hamilton Road, Airline Drive, Barksdale Blvd., or Benton Road in Bossier City.
All work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
Safety reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
