New traffic signals installed on Swan Lake Road at I-220 in Bossier Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises the traveling public that new traffic signals have been installed on Swan Lake Road at its interchange with I-220 in Bossier Parish.
The new signals are currently in a flashing phase, which will continue for approximately one week, before transitioning into the permanent cycles on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. The flashing phase allows drivers to prepare themselves for the upcoming full operation of the signals.
All of the signal timing will be monitored once the signal becomes fully operational and will be adjusted as necessary based on traffic conditions at the ramps and along Swan Lake Road.
The new traffic signals will help control the flow of traffic and serve to reduce delays for those wishing to exit from I-220 onto Swan Lake Road, particularly during peak travel times. The signals will also improve safety by stopping through traffic on Swan Lake Road to allow drivers to safely turn off the interstate ramps rather than waiting for a gap in vehicles.
Motorists are urged to be aware of the change in traffic configuration, and be prepared for possible congestion as the timing for the new signals is adjusted. Drivers are reminded to remove all distractions while behind the wheel, adhere to the posted speed limit, and never drive while impaired.
Safety reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
