DOTD Announces Traffic Switch for LA 1 Intracoastal Bridge Project

WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces a traffic switch on the LA 1 Intracoastal Bridge scheduled to begin the night of Tuesday, November 26. All southbound traffic on LA 1 will be directed onto the new LA 1 Southbound Bridge, with the switch expected to be completed by 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27.
To facilitate this operation, the following lane intermittent lane closures are in effect:
- Southbound LA 1: Intermittent left and right lane closures will continue through Friday, December 13 between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. These closures are necessary for the removal of temporary concrete barriers and for the striping related to the upcoming northbound traffic switch.
- Northbound LA 1: Intermittent left lane closures will also be in place through Friday, December 13 during the same hours. These closures will support operations for the upcoming northbound traffic switch, which is anticipated to occur by the end of the year.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
