DOTD Announces Temporary I-10 WB College Drive exit Configuration
Tuesday, October 01, 2024 at 11:12:21 AM
Baton Rouge, LA- Beginning Saturday, October 5, the College Drive exit from I-10 westbound will temporarily be reduced to one lane as part of the ongoing College Drive Flyover project.
This single-lane exit will feature barriers on both shoulders to effectively separate exit ramp traffic from I-10 westbound. As vehicles approach College Drive, the single lane will expand to three lanes, with the existing turn lane configuration remaining unchanged at the College Drive traffic signal.
In preparation for this change, the exit will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. on Saturday for the installation of striping and temporary barriers. The new lane configuration will be implemented Saturday morning and is expected to remain in effect for approximately eight weeks.
Construction on the permanent College Drive exit, overhead signage and the widening of the Ward Creek bridge will continue on the west side of the project. Once completed, the project will provide College Drive-bound drivers with a two-lane dedicated ramp, safely separated from interstate traffic.
The College Drive Flyover project is anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
Safety reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and we would like to remind drivers to exercise caution and drive with care through construction sites. Please be mindful of work crews and their equipment, and adhere to all posted signage and speed limits.
