Iberville Parish, LA- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces an update on the ongoing repair work for the Bayou Grosse Tete Bridge on LA 77 in Iberville Parish. Following a successful inspection of the bridge’s bearings, the Grosse Tete Bridge will reopen to vehicular traffic Tuesday, September 24.
To accommodate marine traffic, the bridge will operate under a curfew schedule as guided by the U.S. Coast Guard. The new schedule is as follows:
- Vehicles will be permitted to cross the bridge daily from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- The drawbridge will open for marine traffic every day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
Please note that the pedestrian ferry will cease operations on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 24.
The final components for the bridge’s repair are currently being fabricated, and we anticipate that the bridge will resume normal operations by the end of the year.
DOTD appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as we work diligently to complete these repairs.
