(UPDATE 3/10/2025) - DOTD advises the public that, effective immediately, the bridge on LA 121 over an unnamed creek is reopened to all traffic. This bridge is located approximately 2,000 feet north of the intersection with LA 28 in Vernon Parish.

Bridge Closure: LA 121 between LA 8 & LA 28, Vernon Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that starting on Monday, February 10th, 2025, the bridge on LA 121 over unnamed creek will be closed for structural repairs to the damaged approach slab. The estimated completion date is February 23rd, 2025. The bridge is located 2,000 FT NORTH of LA 28.
Permit/Detour section
Northbound traffic will detour on LA 28 Westbound to LA 469 Northbound to LA 8 Eastbound and back to LA 121
Southbound traffic will detour on LA 8 Westbound to LA 469 Southbound to LA 28 Westbound and back to LA 121
The bridge will be closed to all traffic.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that, weather permitting, work will begin on the LA 121 Rehabilitation Project on Monday, September 16, 2024 and will continue for approximately (4) four months. This asphaltic concrete overlay and base stabilization project is located on LA 121 in between LA 8 and LA 28. This 3.916 mile project will receive borrow, milling asphalt concrete, in-place cement treated base course, asphalt concrete pavement, and related work.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Gilchrist Construction Company., LLC in the amount of $2,706,867.42.
Permit/Detour section
The contractor will begin milling asphalt pavement on Monday, September 16, 2024 and the roadway will be open to all local and through traffic with no restrictions for passenger vehicles and an 11’ wide lane width restriction for all oversize vehicles. The roadway will be reduced to one lane during construction operations.
