The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Thursday, September 5, 2024 construction will begin on US 71 in Winn & Natchitoches Parishes. This work will begin at the bridge over Little Natchez Bayou on US 71 and proceeded north for 1.184 Miles to include bridges over Saline Bayou and Chevreuille Bayou.
The intent of this project to replace 3 bridges on US 71 near the Natchitoches/Winn Parish line. The work will include clearing and grubbing, removal of existing bridges, drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching, class II base course, lime treatment, one concrete slab span bridge, two concrete girder span bridges, and other related work.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, WL Bass Construction Inc., in the amount of $27,818,703.88. The work associated with this project should take approximately 760 working days to complete.
Permit/Detour section
Thru traffic will be maintained at all times with oversize and emergency vehicles allowed passage. There will be no detour routes for this project.
