Second Plaquemine/Sunshine ferry to be temporarily out of service

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is advising motorists that the second Plaquemine/Sunshine ferry in Iberville Parish will be out of service for approximately four weeks beginning tomorrow, August 23. This is due to mechanical repairs. The regular ferry will continue to run as scheduled.

As a reminder, the regular Plaquemine/Sunshine ferry’s operating hours are as follows:

Monday – Friday: 4:30 am – 7:45 pm
Saturday – Sunday: 9:30 am – 6:45 pm

Motorists can find the latest status of the ferry by calling 511, visiting www.511la.org, or using the Louisiana 511 mobile app. Motorists can also visit the DOTD website at www.dotd.la.gov and select the “Find ferry & bridge status?” link on the right of the homepage.
