ROAD CLOSURE: LA 534 bridge replacements, Claiborne Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that the ongoing project to replace ten bridge structures along LA 534 in Claiborne Parish is continuing to progress and the contractor will be moving to the next location beginning on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
The contractor will be mobilizing to begin the removal of the first structure on the section of LA 534 north of the LA 534 spur to Haynesville. This will be the first of seven bridges to be replaced along this stretch of the highway. (see included map)
Motorists will be detoured to US 79 once this closure goes into effect.
Three structures have already been removed and replaced as part of this $18.3 million project, which began in May 2023. Those are located on the LA 534 Spur and on the southern end of LA 534 between the Spur and LA 2.
Signage alert motorists to the upcoming road closure has been in place for the last several days, and detour signage will also be in place to direct drivers appropriately.
As a reminder, this is a four-year project, with work on all structures anticipated to wrap up in Spring 2027. Progress is always dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
