LANE CLOSURES: Jimmie Davis Bridge Project, Caddo & Bossier Parishes
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that, effective immediately, there will be intermittent lane closures on LA 511 (Jimmie Davis Hwy & E. 70th St.) in both Bossier City and Shreveport, Arthur Ray Teague Parkway in Bossier City, and Clyde Fant Parkway in Shreveport as the Jimmie Davis Bridge replacement project progresses.
The lane closures on Arthur Ray Teague and Clyde Fant Parkways are in place at the Jimmie Davis Bridge overpass on each roadway.
As construction begins on LA 511, drivers should expect to experience intermittent lane closures for the purposes of re-constructing and widening the roadway to align with the new four-lane structure.
Currently, the contractor is working on clearing and grubbing to allow for the construction of the trestle bridge that will be used to build the new bridge out over the Red River. Two cranes have been mobilized are in place on the two parkways to be utilized for this purpose.
All of these lane closures will remain in place for the next approximately 2.5 years, as work on the new Jimmie Davis Bridge moves forward. The project is estimated to be complete in early 2027, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
