UPDATE – REOPENED: LA 518 bridges near Athens, Claiborne Parish


The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that, effective immediately, the LA 518 bridges that were recently under construction are now OPEN to traffic.

These bridges are located east of LA 9 near the Village of Athens in Claiborne Parish. (see included map)

The two bridges located on LA 518 were removed and replaced with modern concrete structures as part of the $5.7 million project. Another off-system bridge located on a parish-owned roadway (Keen Road) that is also being replaced as part of this project is not yet back open to traffic.

DOTD will issue a notification when Keen Road has been officially reopened.

DOTD sincerely appreciates the patience of the communities that use these structures while this work was underway.
