Dept. of Transportation and Development Announces Bid Results for Statewide Projects

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that 15 projects around the state received bids in April. Twelve contractors presented apparent low bids totaling $29.8 million.

“We’re pleased to announce the letting of 15 new projects all over our state this month,” said DOTD Secretary Joe Donahue. “As we move into the warmer months and anticipate more travelers and visitors in Louisiana, we’re going to continue improving transportation infrastructure for everybody’s benefit.”

Projects awarded and their apparent low bids are as follows:

Bridge Replacement and Repair:
  • Replacement of Doshie Road Bridge over Cherrywince Creek tributary in Rapides Parish: $790,317.30
  • Repair of LA 67 overpass above U.S. 61 in East Baton Rouge Parish: $2,085,474.50
Pavement/Overlay:
  • Milling, patching, and overlay on LA 929 between U.S. 61 and Parker Rd. in Ascension Parish: $1,139,685.32
  • Milling and overlay on LA 1239 between Creola St. and U.S. 71 in Grant Parish: $1,202,002.31
  • Grading, milling, patching, paving, and drainage on LA 365 between LA 370 and LA 13 in Acadia Parish: $3,129,762.00
  • Asphalt surface treatment on U.S. 80 between Ada and LA 154 in Bienville Parish: $478,425.68
  • Patching, milling, overlay, and drainage on LA 945 between LA 3089 and LA 308 in Ascension Parish: $944,520.46
  • Grading, milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 3096 between Junction Rd. and U.S. 167 in Evangeline Parish: $2,427,113.60
  • Milling, patching, and overlay on LA 3226 between U.S. 190 and Vernon Parish line in Beauregard Parish: $2,698,679.04
Congestion Mitigation and Safety:
  • Intersection relocation/improvements at LA 46 and Weinberger Rd. in St. Bernard Parish: $1,603,122.55
  • Installation of “prepare to stop” beacons at intersections along U.S. 165 and LA 139 in Ouachita Parish: $1,124,963.75
  • Signing, striping, and pavement markings on various local roads in Bossier Parish: $1,348,162.25
  • Signing along LA 3132 between I-20 and U.S. 171 in Caddo Parish: $6,802,910.40
Other:
  • Pedestrian and bicycle crosswalks at U.S. 11 and U.S. 190 in St. Tammany Parish: $1,238,409.40
  • Tree removal along I-20 in Lincoln and Madison parishes: $2,746,623.83
When bids for projects are received, an “apparent low bidder” is identified, although the process of actually finalizing and awarding the contract takes about 30 days. Bid prices deemed outside of a certain range or exceeding the project budget typically trigger a more extensive evaluation. DOTD will continue to monitor increases in bid prices related to supply chain and workforce issues. After a review, DOTD may opt to have the project re-bid.

Construction projects are prioritized by road/bridge condition, urgency of improvements, type/volume of traffic, crash records, unforeseeable emergencies that caused damage, and several other factors.
