UPDATE - INTERSTATE CLOSURE: I-20 in Calhoun, Ouachita Parish (LA 151 Deck Replacement Project)


UPDATE: DOTD advisese motorists that the LA 151 overpass is now closed to allow the contractor to begin preparations for deck removal and other operations related to the bridge repair project.

The I-20 closure set to begin at 8:00 p.m. tonight (Friday, March 22nd) will proceed as scheduled and outlined below.

The interstate will be reopened by 6:00 a.m. Monday, March 25th, but the LA 151 overpass will remain closed for approximately 90 days to allow for bridge repairs to be conducted.

UPDATE: DOTD advises motorists that this interstate closure is now scheduled take place beginning on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. and will be reopened by 6:00 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the LA 151 I-20 overpass in Calhoun, Ouachita Parish, will be under construction beginning Friday, March 15, 2024.

This project will replace six (6) bridge girders, re-deck the bridge surface, and replace barrier and guardrail. The project is expected to last ninety (90) days in which the LA 151 Overpass will be closed to all traffic.

On Friday, March 15, 2024, I-20, both Eastbound and Westbound, at mile marker 101 near the village of Calhoun in Ouachita Parish will be closed. I-20 traffic will be diverted around the work zone via the on and off ramps at EXIT 101.

During this closure, the ramps will be used for through traffic only and there will be no I-20 access to or from LA 151 at Exit 101.

The I-20 closure is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, and is anticipated to be re-opened by 6:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18.

The LA 151 overpass will be closed to all traffic for the entirety of the project.

This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.

Detour for LA 151 at Exit 101:

I-20 Eastbound traffic may exit at the Choudrant LA 145 Exit 93 and follow LA 145 to US 80 to access LA 151 South or follow LA 145 to access LA 151 North.

I-20 Westbound traffic may exit at the Calhoun US 80 Exit 103 to access LA 151 South or exit at the Choudrant LA 145 Exit 93 to access LA 151 North.

Detour signage will be posted.
