LA 1: RAPIDES STATION - I-49 BRIDGE

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, (DOTD), advises the public that beginning Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 at 7:00 am, weather permitting, construction will begin at the interchange of I-49 Exit 94 (RAPIDES STATION) and LA 1. Traffic on River Road will be shifted to the southernmost two lanes of River Road during the first phase of construction. This Initial phase of construction is anticipated to last until the end of March.
This construction project consists of re-stabilization of the roadway base, asphaltic concrete pavement, and related work.
The contract was awarded to Gilchrist Construction Company, LLC in the amount of $3,439,930.73.
Permit/Detour section
There are no detours at this time associated with the lane closures.
There will be a lane width restriction of 12 feet for traffic exiting or entering I-49 at Exit 94.

All construction activity is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
