Kenner, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces an upcoming modification at the Veterans Blvd. and Williams Blvd. (LA 49) intersection in Kenner.

On the evening of Monday, February 5, 2024, contractors will be restriping the roadway and adjusting traffic signals to create three left turn lanes on Williams Blvd. southbound at Veterans Blvd. Currently, the southbound lane alignment at the intersection consists of two left turn lanes, three through lanes, and one right turn lane. Beginning Monday night, the intersection will be altered to three left turn lanes, two through lanes, and one right turn lane.

The modification is part of the ongoing $15.4 million major reconstruction project of a 1.1-mile section of Williams Blvd. between W. Metairie Ave. and Veterans Blvd. in Kenner.

The overall project includes removing and repaving the asphalt driving surface, expanding left turn lanes, adding a new bicycle lane, and concrete work to improve curbs, sidewalks, and medians. The project will also add new landscaping, upgraded traffic signals, and lighting.

These changes will increase safety, traffic flow, and convenience for residents. DOTD worked closely with the City of Kenner to finalize plans and designs.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to drive cautiously through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
