Harvey Tunnel Project Update: westbound traffic lanes are open

Update: As of 9 a.m., Thursday, December 21, both westbound and eastbound directions of the Harvey Tunnel are open.

Harvey, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces the following update for the Harvey Tunnel Rehabilitation Project.

Wednesday, December 20, 2023:
Eastbound Harvey Tunnel (US 90Z): Now open to traffic through at least the holiday season.
Westbound Harvey Tunnel (US 90Z): Scheduled to open to traffic on Thursday, December 21, 2023, and remain open through the holiday season.

Original schedules had both sides of the tunnel opening for the holiday period on Friday, however, the timetable was moved up by the contractor.

Motorists can access the latest updates on real-time traffic and road conditions using the 511 Traveler Information System by visiting the 511 Traveler Information website at www.511la.org or by downloading the 511la app.
