Baton Rouge- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that construction will begin on the northbound on and off ramps for the U.S. 61 (Airline Hwy.) bridge over U.S. 190 (Florida Blvd.) in East Baton Rouge Parish. This overpass by struck by a vehicle carrying equipment in May 2022, which prompted an emergency closure.

Beginning Saturday, March 25, there will be lane closures at the U.S. 61 (Airline Hwy.) and U.S. 190 (Florida Blvd.) interchange. These closures are necessary to allow crews to remove the bridge deck and damaged girder.

The lane closures below are as follows:

Saturday, 3/25, from 6:30 a.m. through 7 p.m. on Sunday, 3/26

· U.S. 190 inside eastbound lane at U.S. 61
· U.S. 190 all westbound lanes at U.S. 61; motorists are advised to use the Airline Hwy. northbound exit

Monday, 3/27 from 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. on Thursday, 3/30

· U.S. 190 all westbound lanes at the U.S. 61 interchange; motorists are advised to use the Airline Hwy. northbound exit

This project is anticipated to be completed in May, weather permitting.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through construction sites, and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
