LAFAYETTE, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) announces that beginning Tuesday, September 6, construction will begin on a $3.1 million project to construct a new roundabout at the intersection of La. 98 (W. Gloria Switch Road) and Mills Street in Lafayette Parish.

This project will replace the current four-way stop intersection and install subsurface drainage in the area. Additionally, temporary detour roads will be constructed for La. 98 and the south portion of the intersection on Mills Street in order to maintain through traffic.

Intermittent lane closures will be required to perform the work; therefore, drivers should expect delays. A complete closure of Mills Street, on the north side of the intersection, is necessary to perform a portion of the work. The Department will publish an additional press release, as well as post a detour route, for this planned road closure event.

The work is estimated to take place Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

Emergency vehicles will have access to these areas but may encounter delays.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction sites and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
