Baton Rouge- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the northbound on and off ramps for the U.S. 61 (Airline Hwy.) bridge over U.S. 190 (Florida Blvd.) in East Baton Rouge Parish will remain closed. On Friday, May 20, the bridge was struck by a vehicle carrying equipment, prompting an emergency closure.

Crews were able to assess the damage over the weekend and determined that the bridge girder needs to be replaced. Bridge inspectors will be evaluating the damage more extensively this week to determine the extent of the repairs. A timeline will be provided once this has been evaluated.

Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. Traffic engineers are monitoring the situation and will adjust the traffic lights in the area as needed.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through construction sites, and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
