Baton Rouge- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that beginning Wednesday, May 18, there will be interstate lane closures associated with the ongoing work on the I-10 College Drive Exit project. These closures are necessary to allow crews to restripe the roadway prior to an upcoming traffic configuration that will shift I-10/I-12 westbound lanes slightly south in preparation for the widening of the new exit.

The lane closures below are from the I-10/ I-12 split to the College Drive exit:

  • Wednesday, 5/18 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.- I-10 WB right lane and I-12 WB left lane
  • Thursday, 5/19 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.- I-10 WB left lane
  • Friday, 5/20 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.- I-10 WB right lane and I-12 WB left and middle lane
  • Saturday, 5/21 10 p. m. to 8 a.m.- I-10 WB right lane closed, I-12 WB left and middle lane closed, and there will be no access to the College Drive exit from I-10 WB
  • Sunday, 5/22 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.- I-12 WB right lane closure
  • Monday- Wednesday 5/23-5/25 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.- alternating lane closures on I-12 WB

On Saturday, 5/21, motorists traveling on I-10 westbound will not have access to the College Drive exit. The advised detour route is to exit onto Acadian Thruway, merge onto I-10 eastbound until the College Drive exit.

This $52.3 million project will realign the existing I-12 westbound traffic to more closely follow the I-12 eastbound alignment. It will span both I-12 eastbound and westbound with a new I-10 westbound bridge, allowing for westbound traffic to exit to College Drive without crossing through mainline interstate traffic.

The College Drive exit project is part of a multi-phased project that will widen I-10 from LA 415 in West Baton Rouge Parish to the I-10/12 split in East Baton Rouge Parish. This project is anticipated to be completed Fall 2023, weather permitting.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
