DOTD congratulates New Orleans RTA for award

Baton Rouge – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) congratulates the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) for winning the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) 2021 Rail Safety Certificate of Merit for light rail/streetcar systems. The award was announced at the APTA TRANSform & EXPO held in Orlando, Florida.
“We at DOTD extend our congratulations to the RTA for taking home this award,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. “Excellence in transportation and infrastructure is important not only to Louisianans, but also to our state’s visitors, especially in a vibrant city like New Orleans. We’re always proud to see the achievements of local transportation agencies across the state and how they help to create better infrastructure for everybody’s benefit.”
The APTA certificate of merit recognizes organizations for exceptional achievement in safety or security.
