Plaquemine ferry closed this weekend

Baton Rouge – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the Plaquemine ferry will be closed Saturday, October 9, and Sunday, October 10. The closure is due to a staffing shortage. The ferry is expected to return to service on Monday, October 11.

As a reminder, the ferry’s weekday hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 4:30 am to 9:00 pm. The second Plaquemine ferry remains out of service at this time.

DOTD appreciates your patience. Motorists are encouraged to check the status of road conditions statewide prior to beginning commutes by visiting the 511 Traveler Information website at www.511la.org or by dialing 511 from their telephone and saying the route or region about which they are seeking information. Out-of-state travelers can access the system by calling 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511).
